The US Navy says certainly one of its fighter jets has crashed within the southern California desert, killing the pilot.
In a press release, the navy stated that the FA-18E Tremendous Hornet crashed within the neighborhood of Trona, on Friday afternoon native time.
Trona is about 230 miles southeast of the fighter jet’s base at Naval Air Station Lemoore, California.
No civilians had been damage.
The identification of the pilot won’t be launched till 24 hours after their household has been informed, the navy added.
Naval Air Weapons Station China Lake Federal Firefighters and Naval Safety Forces are on the crash website, which is an unincorporated Mojave Desert neighborhood in San Bernardino County.
Lemoore is house to Commander Strike Fighter Wing Pacific and Commander Joint Strike Fighter Wing and hosts 16 operational Strike Fighter squadrons, in line with its web site.
