A prisoner was shot lifeless by police after escaping from a jail bus, stabbing its driver and killing a household of 5, authorities in Texas have stated.

Gonzalo Lopez, 46, was on a 100-mile journey from a jail in Gatesville, Texas to a different in Huntsville for a medical appointment when he freed himself from restraints.
