Australian actor and intercourse offender Robert Hughes has been granted parole and will likely be deported to the UK when he leaves jail.

Hughes, 73, was imprisoned in 2014 after he was discovered responsible of 10 sexual and indecent assault offences between 1984 and 1990.

The victims of the Hey Dad! actor, who appeared within the sitcom from 1987 to 1994, embody a household pal, buddies of his daughter, and a toddler actor who he labored with.

He renounced his Australian citizenship in 2020 and will likely be allowed to return and dwell within the UK when he’s launched – which will likely be no later than 14 June, parole officers say.

The New South Wales state parole authority has deemed that his threat of reoffending is under common.

He has constantly denied the offences he was convicted of, which prevents him from accessing intercourse offender therapy programmes whereas in custody.

“Hughes and [his] spouse had given undertakings that when again in the neighborhood Hughes would search therapy with a medical psychologist specialising in convicted intercourse offenders who deny their crimes, to help together with his reintegration and cut back his threat of reoffending,” a spokesperson added.

However the authority’s chairman, David Frearson SC, mentioned the authority acknowledged the “profound and deleterious results on the victims… proceed to at the present time and can in all probability be lifelong penalties”.

“It should be significantly galling for the victims to look at the offender’s continued and obstinate denials within the face of compelling and overwhelming proof from a number of witnesses,” he mentioned.
