According to the police and the fire department, before 1:00 pm on the 28th, the fire department was notified that a small plane had crashed into the “Ubuyama Off-field Airfield” in Ubuyama Village, Kumamoto Prefecture, and a fire had started.

Firefighters put out the fire before 2:00 p.m., but the fuselage was mostly burned.

A man in his 50s was on board the small plane and had both legs injured, but was conscious and able to talk when he was taken to the hospital.

According to police, the man is believed to have been training to fly a small plane.
